Statement from the 40th Assembly District Republican Party on the Assassination of Charlie Kirk
Los Angeles, CA — The Republican Party of California’s 40th Assembly District mourns the tragic and senseless assassination of Charlie Kirk.
We are devastated by his loss. Violence—especially political violence—has no place in a free society. It is not how we settle our differences, and it must never become the new normal. We condemn all forms of political violence.
Charlie spoke boldly and always engaged respectfully with anyone, regardless of party, background, or belief. Whether one agreed with him or not, he stood on principle and was deeply committed to reaching the next generation with ideas grounded in common sense. He was a father to two young children, a husband, a son, a friend, and a mentor to many young people seeking wisdom and guidance. Our nation has lost a great role model and leader whose influence inspired courage, conviction, and the belief that one person can make a difference.
Charlie was silenced not for hatred or threats to public safety, but because his voice carried weight. His words resonated with youth longing for truth, clarity, and conviction. That influence frightened those who fear open debate and cannot win on the strength of ideas.
This moment transcends politics; it is about right and wrong. Do we still believe in free speech, open debate, and peaceful exchange of ideas, or will we tolerate assassination as a response to dissent? If we let reflection and change slip by, disagreement may become deadly and silence enforced by fear. That is not the America Charlie loved, nor the America our Founders entrusted to us.
We call on leaders from every party, background, and community to unite: Never tolerate, excuse, or ignore political violence. Only by standing together can we preserve the freedoms that allow passionate disagreement and peaceful coexistence as one nation.
May God grant peace to Charlie’s family. May He strengthen us to reject hatred, defend liberty, and stand boldly for what is right—no matter the cost.
As the Republican Party of Assembly District 40, we pledge to honor Charlie’s legacy by promoting civility, defending the sacred right of free speech, and raising a new generation of leaders who will stand on principle without fear.
We will not allow his voice—or the values he stood for—to be silenced.
